Elcin peak - lovely day hike near Karakol
Easy day hike in Kyrgyzstan, Isyk Kul, Jeti Oguz.
Elcin peak (5020 m) is the most accessible highest peak to visit near Karakol. This place, which you see in the photo, can be reached in 3-4 hours of easy walking. Locals call it Oguz Bashy peak. (Bulls Head Peak) You can also spend the night in a tent at the foot of the mountain. An incredible view.

The path is pretty clear. Also, not much rocky. On the way, you will see a lot of horses, yurts, and local shepherds.
If you are going overnight we would recommend taking a warm sleeping bag. As, it gets cold enough at night close to the glaciers.
The starting point is at Flower Valley. The Easiest way to get there is to take a taxi. It costs 15 euros for one car. You can see the map below also you can find the trail in Maps.me app. Jeti Oguz gorge is very narrow. So you have to just follow river. On the way back you can again hitchhike to Karakol. Also, you will see Jeti Oguz Jed Rocks on the way, and visit a waterfall in Flower Valley. It takes additional 40 minutes.
